LIAM PALMER

IMG_3070_edited.jpg
Born in 1994 in Braintree, Essex, Liam's musical ambitions started from an early age.

I started playing guitar at the age of 10 after my sister introduced me to her new boyfriend (now brother-in-law) who played guitar. when i was a kid my sisters were always singing around the house so i'd always try and keep up with them. a few years later i was doing karaoke in a pub when a guy approached me and asked if i wanted to be the singer in his heavy rock band. My music influences changed and later I formed a new band playing blues/country. I have always written and performed solo on the side playing mainly acoustic songs.

Early influences include Fleetwood Mac, Jet, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses and Foo Fighters.

I spent countless hours learning as many of their songs as i could. i never learned music theory so i'd raid my dad's record collection and learn by ear. You could say there's some element of all these bands in the way I perform.

What do you enjoy most about being in The Routine?

We always have a laugh and we have a lot of different influences that make songwriting very interesting.

Any memorable/horrible moments in your music career?

The first gig I ever played which was with my dad's band. They asked me to play with them for the song 'Sweet Home Alabama'.

Random fact about yourself?

I have broken every limb playing rugby.
